Around The House...
Spring brings spring cleaning tasks... Here is one that is easy, and repurposes our most precious resource, water.
1. Clean your coffee machine with white vinegar to remove old coffee oil and mineral deposits from the machine. Use 1 cup of vinegar with enough water added to fill the maximum cups (or 1 part vinegar with 2 parts water). Then brew it like a regular pot of coffee.
2. Instead of pouring the water/vinegar mix down the sink, put it to use and pour it over your bathtub surfaces. Yup! It cuts through any soap residue, and dust if you have an unused tub; and it keeps the drains odor-free.
3. Run another full pot of water only to further cleanse your coffee machine and remove any vinegar taste.
4. Do the same thing with the water for a second soap residue removal in the bathtub.
The water from my coffee pot isn't boiling - and it shouldn't be for any coffee machine - so I was willing to try this in my tiled shower, my tub and bathroom sinks. The drains smelled clean and the surfaces were, too. (Please spot test this if you have any kind of antique porcelain tub, porous marble, etc.)
Bonus: Your next pot of coffee will taste great!

Binge Watching...
If you haven't seen the first season of "Ozark" starring the adorable and very versatile actor, director, producer, Jason Bateman, and his onscreen wife, Laura Linney, then catch up now. Warning: this is a binge worthy show so plan ahead.
If you don't have Netflix, they still offer the FREE trial month without obligation. I called the company to see if they would offer me a code to offer to you, but they didn't have one for this purpose right now... If this changes, I'll pass along the savings info in a future newsletter.
Season 2 is rumored to be released this coming July. I just rewatched season 1, and it is even better than I remembered from the first time around. The story is filled with complex characters, crazy conflict, and yes, drug dealer type violence but not to the level of Breaking Bad. Give it a chance if the first episode doesn't grab you... Once they leave Chicago, the adventure really begins!

In The Library...
I am an avid reader of all genres (except fantasy, no offense to the "Lord of The Rings" crowd). Each month I will share a book or series that I believe you will get a lot out of and enjoy. My recommendations consist only of books that I have read.
As we head into spring, it is time to change, alter, clean up, reassess your surrounds and your life. The book, The Now Habit by Neil Fiore, Ph.D., has helped me in too many ways to recount here. But if you are at all a procrastinator, or one who hesitates, this book will change your life or at the very least help you to get a handle on how to approach those stagnant projects, dreams, or goals which you've been holding back on.
It depends on how you absorb information, but with non-fiction, I like to listen the book in its audio version (make great use of the time when you are driving, cleaning, exercising, etc.). I've listened to this book 3 times so far, and each time I learn something new or a concept cements itself so that I can fully apply it. It is working... This newsletter is just one bit of proof!
Everyone probably could use a bit of help in this area... Or maybe you know someone who needs it. Whether the issue is with big tasks, or day to day mundane ones, this book will give you tools to fix it!

Shopping Tip: All You Need Are Gloves...
And some fashion love for men and women. Yes, winter clothes shopping is off our minds, and it's time for trying on sandals BUT now is the time to buy leather gloves.
Most department stores offer major discounts AND bonus coupons applicable for last seasons' items. You can pick up a pair - or two - for about a third of the retail cost prior to Christmas (sometimes even less). Buy a pair in red, purple, or blue, to add a pop of color against your winter coat, or stock up on the more traditional choices. Plus, these are always great holiday gifts to buy now, put away to save money next season.
Sizing tip: If you aren't sure, always go up at least a half-size in leather gloves... Like well made shoes, they will not stretch. You should be able to make a fist without the seams feeling tight. Also, when trying them on in the store remember to consider any rings you regularly wear.
Leather gloves come with all types of linings, so whether you need some basic coverage for milder winter climates, or cashmere type warmth for driving through the tundra... Now is the time to save some $$$, you'll be glad you did next season!
BONUS: Wearing gloves while driving helps to protect your hands from harmful UV sun rays so look for a light pair to keep in the car for autumn and spring, too. It SPF without the chemicals!

Things To Do...

Some of you may know, and others may not, that I have launched the Better Brighter Easier website to bring you Helpful Things For A Happy Life.
