March update

This month was a blink-and-you-miss-it one! So much activity and the coming months look to be just as busy. Here are some highlights from March:

* Our industry partners have been busy showing many of our students and teachers around their facilities. Indooroopilly SHS students visited Archerfield Airport which included a bus tour around the runways, hangers and businesses based on site, and Brisbane Airport to see the airport's "new runway" on a tower simulator and check the progress on construction. Atherton SHS students have been out and about - Year 11 Aerospace Studies students experienced an "Aviation Industry Introduction" at Mareeba Airport, while some very lucky Year 12 Aerospace Studies students managed a walk through of the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner at Cairns Airport! Noosa District SHS spent some time with our friends at RAAF Base Amberley (photo above). Additional photos below. Thanks to all the industry partners for their tireless work behind the scenes!
* Thanks to A/Professor Gui Lohmann for his hospitality in discussing all things aviation at Griffith University.
* Another productive AGISP Steering Committee was held this month; with thanks to Aviation Australia for hosting the meeting.
* AGISP friend Charlie Stone from industry partner Boeing Defence Australia spoke with some very excited Mueller College students (captured for YouTube). Thanks to Charlie and Boeing Defence Australia for their time and enthusiasm!
* Thanks to industry partner Aviation Australia for inviting some of our AGISP teachers and other industry partners to meet the AA and TAFE QLD Board Directors in Brisbane. It was a great afternoon of networking!
* Some of our Aerospace students have been completing or about to complete invaluable work experience with some of our wonderful industry partners including Air New Zealand, Boeing Defence Australia, Brisbane Airport Corporation and TAE Aerospace. We thank you industry for creating such amazing experiences for our students!
* AGISP supporter Space Design Competitions Australia held their 2018 launch of Junior and Australian Space Design Competitions in Brisbane (photos below).
