Zurich Innovation Park is open!

The official opening of the Information Pavilion at the Zurich Innovation Park took place on March 2nd, in the presence of Swiss Federal Councilor Johann N. Schneider-Ammann, Government Councillor Carmen Walker Späh, Swissmem President Hans Hess, State Councillor Ruedi Noser and many guests from business, technology and politics. Impressions of this occasion can be seen in the film of the official opening.

After years of preparation at both planning and political levels, the Pavilion provides the first visible element of the Park, and is open to the general public. At the open day on March 10th around 1,200 interested visitors used this opportunity to get an idea of the generation project on Dubendorf Airfield.

The timber Information Pavilion is the Innovation Park’s centerpiece. It was created by the timber construction company Blumer-Lehmann AG, from the eastern part Switzerland, who is also the building’s landlord. The innovative shape and the sustainable construction methods perfectly suit its function as a beacon for the whole site. The modular construction provides a bridge to the future as at the end of its life the Pavilion can be dismantled with its room modules and building shell remaining 100% re-usable.

The “Chuchichäschtli” public café
Now that the Pavilion is open, its café welcomes visitors with a wide view over the airfield. In the Chuchichäschtli, many different nationalities come together, with researchers and developers working together, co-operating, networking and exchanging ideas. But why the name? Why not visit us and find out?

The intelligent Pavilion
Hivemind’s smart sensors provide added value to the Innovation Park community. With the Internet of Things buildings are connected to the internet, becoming Smart Buildings. Sensors in the Pavilion monitor the room temperature and air quality, providing data that can be viewed on the Innovation Park App. You can download it from the App Store (Android and iOS). The (Web) App is available in Swiss German and English.

Experience innovation
The exhibition "Review – Insight – Outlook" makes innovation a visible experience for the wider public. Get an insight into the current on-site activities and our partners’ projects, or take a virtual tour of the potential development of the park. Along with the view into the future there is a fascinating look at well-known "Zurich innovations". Oversized street furniture in the grounds outside offers seating and encourages discussion, perhaps during a simple lunch at the public barbecue area.

AEROTAIN AG, the Innovation Park’s first startup, has specialized in interactive display from the air, providing the public with unique perspectives and unforgettable experiences at events. With safe technology, AEROTAIN drones are the first, and still the only drones, permitted to fly directly over public gatherings in Switzerland.

“Hört auf, Innovationstheater zu spielen” – book vernissage
In his book Jean-Philippe Hagmann shows how established companies can really be radically innovative. Learn more at the vernissage at the Zurich Innovation Park from 5.30 pm.
