YES, then this information is for you. By now, you should know that if you employ someone who isn’t a licensed agent, there are certain compliance requirements they need to complete (called FDR requirements by most
MA Carriers). For more information on these requirements check out the
January 2016 Newsletter.
 
Our focus today is on the General Compliance and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Training that your Non-Agent employees need to take within 90 days of Hire and Annually thereafter. CMS has updated the trainings, so if you have previously downloaded them to use when administering the training, you’ll need to download the updated versions. You can do so via the CMS website, just

Updated Medicare Supplement Applications

As you may already be aware, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is readying a fraud prevention initiative that removes Social Security numbers from Medicare cards to help combat identity theft, and safeguard taxpayer dollars. CMS has announced it will begin mailing new cards in April 2018.

In preparation for these changes, page 2 of the application now contains an image of the new Medicare Card, and for each applicant, there are now two fields for the Medicare Health Insurance Card Number (this will allow for either or both numbers during the transition period.)
 
Please note: In addition to the new Medicare Card update, some states have required changes to the health questions.
 
All applications, except for Minnesota, have been updated and are available on the Agent Portal. Please start using the new applications as soon as possible. Previous versions will no longer be accepted as of June 1, 2018.

HMS Plus ADB w/ROP will be available for sale on April 6, 2018 in the following states: AK, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NM, NV, OH, OK, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, WI, WV, and WY.
HMS Plus Portfolio Changes
We will be making the following changes to our mortgage portfolio effective April 6, 2018. These changes apply to applications written on or after April 6, 2018.
  • There will be minor premium changes to HMS Plus 100 CBO and HMS Plus 125 CBO. Generally, premiums are increasing at higher issue ages and lowering at younger issue ages. Not all issue ages will have changes. A new rate guide and quoting software will be available on Friday, April 6, 2018.
  • HMS Plus w/ADB face amounts will be changed to $100,000; $150,000; or $200,000.
