Reminder: CPM Symposium Scholarship Applications Due Tomorrow Wednesday, April 11th and Early Bird Ends Friday, April 13th.

The Symposium Convening Partners (NACPM, AME, CfM, ICTC) are committed to supporting a racially, ethnically, and culturally diverse midwifery workforce and providing opportunities for multiple voices to be heard so we can better understand and be responsive to the needs of all childbearing people.  In service to this commitment we are offering full and partial scholarships to the 2018 CPM Symposium which are reserved for midwives, students, consumers, allied professionals and advocates who identify as people of color, native, indigenous, and/or LGBTQ2S.

To apply for a Symposium scholarship, complete the application form by Wednesday, April 11 with a short essay (no more than 500 words) describing your interest in the Symposium, the specific knowledge you hope to gain as a participant, the perspectives you hope to share, and how your attendance will help you serve childbearing people.  Your application should highlight the ways you have become or are becoming a leader in the field.  You will be notified about your application status by April 18.

Some of our available scholarships have been awarded to people from the designated communities who are speaking at the Symposium.  Realizing the need may well exceed current capacity, we will continue to seek additional sources of funding to support even greater participation.

About the Symposium: The CPM Symposium is a facilitated planning event that will bring together midwives, childbearing families, students, educators, policy makers, funders, allied professionals and other stakeholders to plan for the future of the CPM profession. It will occur May 11-13, 2018 in Potomac Maryland.  Unlike a typical conference, the Symposium is intended to be an expansive and safe space in which we can listen to each other and search for solutions for midwives and childbearing families. CfM is a symposium partner and we encourage consumers and advocates to bring their voices and perspectives to this important meeting. View the Program, Learn more and Register here.
