Dear Farm Friends,

It’s been a wild and entertaining spring here on the farm. All kinds of exciting winter-ish weather has come our way, considerably spicing up the farming process. In plainer language, this means that some of our crops are a little delayed. But not to worry! Soon, very soon, things will warm up and begin to grow like gangbusters, whatever gangbusters are. The farm is in top shape, with a dedicated and seasoned crew, a great plan, and many acres already planted. So please join us for another season of good food adventures!

Among many fun new things we are trying this year: sourdough whole grain breads. I've been a passionate home baker for many years, and in the last couple years I've been diving deeper and studying with the legendary baker Dave Miller www.millersbakehouse.com. It's been a blast and I'm looking forward to sharing the bread a bit more widely once we figure out all the logistics. The bread will be available to western Nevada County CSA members in late May or thereabouts.

The Nevada County Food policy council is putting on a candidate forum with our County Supervisor and Congressional candidates. This is a unique opportunity to express your concerns or questions to them on the subject of food and farming. All candidates have been invited.

Summer Vegetable Share

Winter CSA season ends May 17.
Summer season is May 22 through November 8.

Summer Fruit Share

Winter CSA season ends March 29.
Summer season is June 5 through October 4.

Summer Flower Share

First spring bulb share ends April 19, and the 2 week extension ends May 3.
Summer flowers are June 26 through September 13.

  • April 17: Food and Farming Candidate Forum in Nevada City, 6:30-8:30pm, call 530-265-2343 for info.
  • April 18 & 19: final pickups of regular Spring Flower Share
  • April 21: Squaw Valley Earth Day Festival- come say hello at our booth!
  • May 2 & 3: final pickup of Spring Flower Share Extension
  • May 15: Payment deadline to be included on the first Summer Veggie Share delivery (prorated orders are available all season after this date)
  • May 16 & 17: final pickups of Winter Veggie Share
  • May 22 & 24: first pickup of Summer Veggie Share (W. Nevada County summer pickups change to Tuesdays)
  • June 5 & 7: first pickup of Summer Fruit Share

It's never too late to join! Prorated orders are always available if a season has begun. Each Wednesday night is the signup deadline for the following week's delivery.
