ABOUT LSS

Helping People Across Wisconsin and Michigan
Dedicated to representing God’s love through programs and services that help people in need, Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan traces its origin to 1882 when Pastor E.J. Homme opened a home for orphaned children in Wittenberg, Wisconsin. Now, our services extend across Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, helping people all along the lifespan with services as essential as housing and life-changing as adoption.

We change lives in many different ways: with a meal for someone who hasn’t eaten lately; a course of treatment for someone struggling with addiction; or a comprehensive set of services for an individual, family or community.

Affiliated with congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America throughout Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, LSS welcomes and serves people of all faiths and backgrounds. We thank the ELCA churches that support our ministry of social service; we’re also grateful to the United Way, county and state governments, corporations, foundations and thousands of caring individuals.
Our programs and services include:
                        ADOPTION             FOSTER CARE                         MENTAL HEALTH
                        DISABILITIES       ADDICTION                              YOUTH & FAMILY
                        SENIOR LIVING   HOUSING/HOMELESSNESS    RESTORATIVE JUSTICE

Lutheran Social Services Weekend
April 21 - 22
Join us for worship on April 21/22, when we celebrate Lutheran Social Services Weekend. We are privileged to have Cynthia Halvorson of LSS bring God’s message to us. Please plan to attend. In the meantime, please prayerfully consider how you can help support this wonderful agency of the church as it works to accomplish God’s work and will in the world.
Mission of the Month
OUR MISSION OF THE MONTH FOR APRIL:  FAMILY PROMISE

We will be collecting money for the purchase of needed computer equipment and software for the Family Promise Day Center, where the guests spend much of their days. These items are necessary to help the guests with their search for jobs, housing and additional needs, as well as to help the staff run the day center efficiently and provide the best possible assistance to the guests.

On another note, an exciting decision has been made to actually host the families here at Church of the Resurrection! Our first host week will be May 20 through 26. We will offer training right here at COR on Sunday, April 15, at 11:30 AM.  The training will take about two hours, and lunch will be served. I hope you will consider helping with this important mission. There is a sign-up sheet at the Welcome Center for the training.

As a host church, we will also need some supplies for our guests. A sign-up for those items will also be available soon at the Welcome Center.

Please contact me at 262-894-2639 or lkdischer@gmail.com with any questions.

CALL FOR GRASS CUTTERS !!!

The church is in need of additional people to help with mowing and trimming grass around the church.  Anyone who has mowed in the past has said how much easier it was than they thought AND how much fun it was, especially riding the large mower.  We are hoping to have 5-6 teams this year...so please consider participating and beautifying our church grounds.

Call the church office at 691-7700 or email us at office@churchoftheresurrection.org  if you can help

*Yay! You can sleep in your own bed!

VOTING MEMBERS are needed to represent
Church of the Resurrection.

In addition to our Rostered Leaders (Pastor Kim and Deacon Susan Daniels), we need to send two voting members (formerly called delegates) to represent our congregation as a part of the Greater Milwaukee Synod. If possible, we would like to send one man and one woman as our voting members.

At the GMS Assembly, you will hear inspiring, interesting speakers, enjoy lively worship, meet and get to know folks from other GMS churches, learn about the work of our congregations, the GMS and the ELCA, and participate in the ‘work’ of the church as it hears, discusses, tweaks and votes on various resolutions and policy items.

Please prayerfully consider serving our congregation and the GMS as a voting member at Assembly. You will find it to be an interesting and fulfilling experience.

COR will pay for your registration costs. Deadline to apply is April 25.

Please speak to Pastor Kim ASAP if you are interested.
