April is a busy month for Tableau at UNH, and you can read all about it this edition of Tableau at UNH News.
Testing for our upgrade from Tableau server version 10.4 to 10.5 has begun in our test environment. Developers with access to the UNH Tableau Test Server received instructions on Monday, April 2. The upgrade is scheduled for April, 12 at 5:00 p.m., so don't forget to get your feedback to us by Monday, April 9.
This Friday, April 6 we host the Southeast NH Tableau User Group at The Alumni Center. We hope you will join us to learn from two talented students from the Analytics & Data Science program who are presenting '10 Tips in 30 Minutes'. For folks who are interested in advanced analytics and predictive modeling, we will hear a use case from Dr. YY Huang of Rapid Miner, a Boston-based data science platform provider. Read more about the event here.
Our April office hours will feature a special presentation, 'What's new with Tableau 10.5'. Tableau 10.5 introduces Tableau's new data engine Hyper along with some other great new features. One of the most exciting features for UNH users is the new Box connector. You can now use Excel and CSV files stored on Box as data sources for extracts with automated refresh schedules. Join us on Monday, April 9 at 1:00 in Hewitt Hall room 301 to learn about Box connector and other new features available with the 10.5 upgrade.
We hope to see you soon and thank you for reading,
— The EIM Tableau Support Team

Hyper is Tableau's new in-memory data engine technology. It is designed to deliver faster ingestion speeds, faster data extract creation and better query performance against large data sets. With hyper, Tableau has improved performance for common computationally-intensive queries, like count distinct, calculated fields, and text field manipulations. Learn more about Hyper by watching Tableau's product video.
