Dear Supporter,

We hope you’ve had a very good Easter.  Here’s a quick update from us:

Vape Jam 4 is this weekend.
Come and find us at B70 with the Modders, we will be there for all three days.  The Vape Jam organisers are again very kindly donating the raffle proceeds to us and we will be selling raffle tickets, as well as signing up new supporters, handing out vaping welcome stickers and, we hope, meeting you. Mark Crew of SoulOhm reviews is giving presentations for NNA, so look out for those on Saturday at 3pm and Sunday at 2:30pm.

NICE
Thank you to everyone who wrote in with stakeholder comments for us to submit  to the NICE consultation.  The updated guideline for Smoking cessation: interventions and services has now been published: you can find the guideline here and the stakeholder comments and responses are here.  The updated guidelines are an improvement on the old ones, if not all that we might have wished for.

Challenging prohibition campaign
The All-Party Parliamentary Group for E-Cigarettes is currently drawing up suggested changes to vaping policy for the Parliamentary handbook.  NNA was at the recent APPG meeting, read more in our blog post here.  We have had a lot of reaction from you to the TUC and Unison’s outdated positions on vaping in workplaces, as expressed by their representative at the meeting.  If you are in a union please consider asking your representative about your union's position - and do highlight that the British Medical Association has recently updated theirs, see here.

Snus
You may have seen the recent hysterical stories in the UK press about Premier league footballers using snus.  We responded with this press release, Moral Panic Over Footballers Using Snus,  and NNA Associate Martin Cullip authored this excellent article in Spiked: Why shouldn’t footballers use snus?

Following on from the hearing at the European Court of Justice in January (see our update here) the Advocate General will be giving his opinion on 12th April.  The final judgement isn’t expected until later in the year but final judgements in ECJ cases are usually in accord with the Advocate General opinion.  We will keep you posted.

Best wishes,

New Nicotine Alliance team
