Looks like we might finally be getting some warm temperatures and sunny weather happening in South Delta. If we do, many of you will be playing outdoors at Memorial Park or at a number of other local outdoor pickleball courts. It is quite a different game outdoors as the wind causes the ball to move differently and sometimes unpredictably. The sun can blind you as you wind up for an overhead smash or when someone attempts an overhead lob on you and you literally can’t see the ball any longer. Although we all enjoy playing the actual game with its diversity of nuances, it is the people we enjoy playing with that makes the game what it is.

60th Wedding Anniversary!
Congratulations to Michael and Maureen Harbott, who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary recently. They were married on March 29th, 1958. If you are interested in their life story, Michael and Maureen coauthored an autobiography of their marriage entitled, A Fine Romance. It chronicles their life adventures together starting out in England, then taking them to South Africa, and finally here to Canada. It’s a great read.

General Rules of Play at SDBC
Sign in when you first arrive, so we can keep track of how many players show up for each session.
In consideration of others playing at the current session, please do not enter the gym any earlier than 5 minutes prior to the start of your session.
Only attend one playing session per day.
Remember to pay the $2 per player fee, each session you play.
Wear gym shoes to prevent injury from slipping.
Bring your own water bottle.
When there are 4 or more players waiting, the game ends when one of the teams reaches 9 points. No 2 point difference.
After your game, place your paddle in the rack oriented for winner or non-winner. The next 4 players to go out will be according to the orientation of the closest paddle to the beginning of the rack.
At the end of the final session of the day, please help clean up and put away all the equipment and chairs. The gym must be vacated within 10 minutes of the end of the session, in order for the church to be secured.
Level of Play: Play at the session that is appropriate for your skill level.If you need any assistance determining your skill level, please ask one of the hosts.
Rating Descriptors: Skill level ratings can be broken down into a range between 1.0-5.0. An advanced player is highly skilled and has mastered third shots, dinks, and lobs, and understands body and court position. Find your rating here.
Senior Scene Luncheonsare for senior couples, singles, widows, and widowers from within our church, seniors residences, and the community. Come enjoy a home-style lunch, uplifting music, and warm fellowship while learning principles of life from the bible through various speakers and musicians. Luncheons take place every third Tuesday of each month at 11:30AM. Suggested donation of $5. Lunch is free if you are a first-time visitor.
