Happy Spring!

If you haven’t done so yet get out and enjoy the weather. Spring is a great season to spend time outside putting in the miles. In addition to our regular Club rides there are a number of popular rides around the corner that members typically sign up for at this time of year. Take a look at the website below and others to find out what’s going on. http://www.wheelbrothers.com/texas-bike-rides/

On that note, I’m pleased to announce that we’ve decided to continue our annual Club ride formerly known as the RnR100 (new name and logo coming soon.) Look for announcements and invitations to participate and/or volunteer. As if that wasn’t enough, we’ll also have a brand new venue and fantastic routes that are sure to offer something for everyone. The organizing team is very excited about the changes and is actively working on putting together their volunteer committees. I can’t stress enough how important it is that members support the Club’s annual event by; signing up to ride, bringing along a friend to ride with, or working as a volunteer or chairperson for the ride. Your participation will be key to ensuring that we have a record turnout this year. If you want to volunteer, please send an e-mail to Gil Hine. We’ve learned a great deal over the last couple of years and believe that we are on the path to making this one of San Antonio’s premier cycling events! So mark your calendars for Saturday September 29th and stay tuned for more information.

Last, I sent a note earlier in the month informing you of volunteer opportunities the Club is involved in. I’m glad to report that the Safe Cycling event was a lot of fun and well worth the time.

This event and others we’ll share are an important step for the Club as we look to becoming a 501c3 (not for profit) organization. We are at the early stages of that process but committed to seeing it through. The change in status will afford the Club opportunities that are not currently available to us. Look for more information in the near future or ask a Board member for an update when you’re out on the road.

Be safe, have fun and pedal on!

We want your cycling photos!

Our weekend rides are fun and they usually put us in a great mood before, during, and after the ride. Often, we capture some great moments with our cameras. We’d love for you to share some of the photos that you take before, during, and after our rides! These photos showcase our passion for cycling and our involvement with the club. We’ll use them on our website, social media posts, and during our holiday party. If you have a photo that you’d like to share, please upload it to dropbox or send it to photos@sawheelmen.com.

Saturdays are Jersey Rides
We encourage all members to wear their club jerseys on all Saturday club rides. They look great and it’s an awesome sight when a large group goes out in our colors. Being a Wheelmen is something to be proud of so show your spirit.

Need a jersey?

Contact Jerry Hyndman at merchandise@sawheelmen.com and he’ll get you fixed up.
