AU i4Policy Innovation Hub Gathering

Dear Friends of GIG,

we are beyond excited: The African Union and i4Policy are convening Africa's largest hub gathering to take action in policy making!

The i4Policy team around Jon Stever, Geraldine de Bastion, Georgia Haddad Nicolau and Nanjira Sambuli has been working hard on this project since the GIG panel on policy frameworks for innovation and entrepreneurship at re:publica 2016 - Congratulations for this huge success!

Building the commons and working social innovation from the bottom up

The year 2017 was the growth and consolidation of the Procomum Institute in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, Brazil. Chinmayi SK and Anna Waldman-Brown are building a living, collaborative Atlas of all the community innovation spaces worldwide to be launched officially in June. Read more

Human-centered formats and the SDGs
In the past two years Daniela Marzavan and colleagues have been developing human-centered formats for teaching the contents and especially the new transformative components of the SDGs to policy makers that work for or with the German Development Services.

To whom do the data belong? For whom are they available? How can we make the data visible so as to guarantee new narratives that allow the development of communities full of rights? data_labe is becoming an independent NGO and tackles to understand how to be a civil and tech organization at the delicate moment for favela dwellers in Rio de Janeiro.

The dawn of #AfricaOSH 

The past weekend marked the kickoff for Africa's Open Science Hardware community AfricaOSH.com. Initiated by Thomas Mboa and colleagues from the Global Gathering for Open Science Hardware (GOSH) about 80 dedicated scientists, makers and innovators came together to discuss status quo and ways forward.
