Bringing our Scandinavian heritage to the world - in design, manufacturing and culture.
From Denmark to Florida and to the world
For more than a decade, Shores has been a preferred supplier of furniture for the cruise industry. That makes us a global corporation, of course, with suppliers, manufacturing and sales spread out across continents - but our roots will always matter.
Our roots are forever Danish
From founder Susan Sadolin's childhood in the small, cozy fishing town of Kerteminde, and her family's tradition for sailing, to her experience with the famed Danish design, a distinct Nordic vibe runs through the business.
You see it in the clean lines and shapes of the furniture. The Scandinavian appreciation of wide horizons and open skies - the climate teaching the people to appreciate it when nature shows its benign sides.
Making us efficient, too
But it's also at the heart of the unique take on efficiency which permeates our organisation. Up north, time is expensive, putting the onus of any company to deliver quickly, accurately and to spec. It's this approach which has brought Shores to introduce cutting-edge technology in design and production.
To most, "laser cutter" sounds like something out of science fiction - to our customers, however, such a machine is a big part of the reason why we can deliver custom-sized and -shaped cushions and upholstery as fast as catalogue products. Computer files travel the globe in seconds, putting designers and manufacturers literally on the same page from drafting to cutting and sewing.
Nordic designers
It's natural for us to have Scandinavian designers creating many of our products. Famed designer Finn Østergaard recently joined Shores, and will be working with us developing even more stylish, classic and comfortable furniture. Already represented in our catalogue is Petu Kummala from Finland, who designed the Leaves collection - which won't be the last we see of his work, either. Stay tuned and follow us to learn more about our design collaborations.
