How Is It The Last Week Of April Already?

Hello Friend,

I don't know about you, but I have zero idea where April went. Seems like we went from April Fool's Day directly to U.S. tax deadline day to today, Shakespeare's birthday.

Where does the time go?

And why does it leave a pile of To Dos in its wake to taunt us?

For my small business clients, it's usually undone content work: blog posts unwritten, newsletters unsent, web content not sent to the web designer, again.

I get it. Writing is the last thing you thought you'd be doing when you launched your coaching business or finally left corporate.

Because content and communication have been the focus of my entire professional career, undone "someday" projects may pile up, but I always hit the deadlines for my blog, newsletter and other content.

But you don't need to be a communication pro, you just need to know about the tool we all use: a Content Calendar.

At its most basic, a content calendar maps your schedule, your topics and the channels you'll use. You could pop open a Google calendar right now and create one for May, 2nd quarter, or the rest of 2018.

Would it make things easier if you always knew what you were writing about when you sat down to write?

Would it make a difference to your prospects if you could give them a regular stream of targetted information?

Content planning is such a core concept to keeping your business on message, I've talked about it before:
And, I have two Content Calendar Build Workshops scheduled for May. These are two-hour, live via Zoom videoconference sessions that I keep small so you can ask questions, brainstorm with the group and actually build your calendar during the workshop. Details are here.

Maybe it will help you get some of those lingering To Dos crossed off your list!

PS - if you have a friend or colleague who could use a little help with content planning, I'd be delighted if you'd share this edition of The 23rd to them using the Forward button below my signature.

Always Have a Plan B

Yet, there are times when even the best-laid plans get thrown off course. There are a number of tactics you can use when you hit a content creation time-crunch.

Haikus won't catapult my business. But they give friends of 4.23 a smile...and they let me flex a different kind of writing muscle and that keeps my words from getting stale.

Finally...
Like I said, April's almost over, and when it goes, so go the daily haikus. Sniff.

Be well said,
