Paintings and drawings by Peer Kriesel
After an interesting and revealing artist talk with Peer, we cordially invite you to our Live Painting Action and Finissage on Friday, the 6th of April at 5pm. In the middle of the gallery Kriesel will reveal his talent to the public.
We close the exhibition, and the grimaces continue to teem at art fairs and future locations.
Kriesel reveals manifestations of the unconscious and sweeps them into his drawings, which in turn face the conscious viewer. What he offers as entertaining "Wimmel-Paintings" is at second glance often a sarcastic portrait of society, reminiscent of works by George Grosz.
Kriesel’s visual fantasies are pervasive, of a dark age, and at the same time moralizing. The great masters Brueghel or Hieronymus Bosch come to mind.
The educated design-artist works with acrylic and water colors on canvas and paper. He also utilizes expired underground (BVG-UBahn) tickets, old invitations to exhibitions and the like as urban medium for his artworks. No wonder that a used Air Berlin boarding pass ended up under the paint pen of Peer Kriesel.
".... if I can make it here I can make it anywhere," was his motto when he did not even shy away from the textile industry. His grimaces landed last year on the collections of New York designer Julianna Bass, presented at New York Fashion Week in the fall of 2017.
Born 1979 in Berlin. Studies Communication Design FH Potsdam. Until 2016 he worked as Art Director at the advertising agency Peperoni. Since 2016 freelance artist and designer. Since 1999 numerous solo and group exhibitions in Germany and abroad. Lately, he also discovered the fashion industry as bottom material to art. In a creative cooperation spree with New York designer Julianna Bass, he presented a collection of his prints at the New York Fashion Week in autumn 2017.
