Back to school tomorrow and more rehearsing for our demonstration at Weatherby Pavilion, which is on April 9. See list of Demo dances below. We remembered them very well last week, and did lots more dances as well.
Have a look at https://lyridsfolkdancefestival.org/. All of you are encouraged to register for all or part. If the price is prohibitive, we need work-exchange volunteers! You can be part of the festival without paying so much! Prices here. Consider going to at least some of the teaching - many of the dances are accessible to all. One solution might be to attend the Friday party and decide after that if you want to attend more. I know it is a long drive - please get together and carpool. Register by April 14 if you want meals, otherwise drop-in is possible.
Extra events are optional and are listed here for your information. If a couple of hours of dancing once a week on Thursdays is as much as you want or can manage, that is fine!
- April 9, 6:15-7:15pm, demonstration at Weatherby Pavilion where Jeannette is living. Arrive at 5pm to prepare. Address: 15521 Russell Avenue, White Rock, next to Peace Arch Hospital.
- Pre-festival workshop with Sonia and Cristian, Thursday, April 19, 7-10pm. $5 for members or BIFD prepaid dancers, $10 for drop-ins.
- Lyrids Folk Dance Festival, April 20-22, 2018. Featured teachers will be Sonia Dion and Cristian Florescu. Registration is open with over 80 full-time registrants so far. Part-time is possible. See price list here: https://lyridsfolkdancefestival.org/fees/.
- Post-festival workshop with Sonia and Cristian, Tuesday, April 24, 7-10pm, at Charles Rummel Community Centre in Burnaby. $5 for prepaid BIFD dancers and SIFD members, $10 for drop-ins.
- Demo at Fleetwood Villa, 16028 83rd Ave, on Sunday, May 6, 2-3pm for their open house with a multicultural theme. Meet there at 12:30pm. Let me know if you are available to help.
- Demo at Intercultural Showcase on May 12, 11-3pm at Guildford Recreation Centre, 15105 -105 Avenue, Surrey. Exact time to be determined. Website: https://www.surrey.ca/community/26419.aspx. See if you can find someone familiar in the poster.
- Demo at Fleetwood Villa, 16028 83rd Ave, on Friday, June 8, 2:30-3:30pm. Meet there at 1pm. Let me know if you are available to help.
- SIFD Summer BBQ on Saturday, July 28, 3pm-10pm, at Don's farm, 25133 0 Ave, Aldergrove. Folk Voice Band of Seattle will play live music for us! Walk around the farm, dancing, then pot-luck dinner/BBQ, followed by more dancing!

2018 First Saturday Bellingham Folk Dance Parties
April 7, 2018 – Trio Tsuica and Gin and Pontic
May 5, 2018 – Zakuska
All dances are at the Fairhaven Library, 1117 12th Street, Bellingham.
Music and dancing starts at 7:30 and runs until 10:30 PM.
A $15 donation is requested.
