Next Friday, April 13, Karen Savoca and Pete Heitzman return to Point Richmond Acoustic with their unique brand of soulful folk. You may recognize Karen and Pete from their "day job" as backup musicians for the legendary Greg Brown on one of their many tours with him. Karen and Pete deliver an addictive blend of folk, pop flavored with jazz whimsy and slippery funk with Pete contributing his transcendent guitar to their signature sound.  The show is held at the First Methodist Church at 201 Martina in Point Richmond. Tickets are $16 in advance and $20 at the door.

Check out Karen and Pete on Youtube.

Karen is truly a natural-born singer. Her baby diary reads, "20 months, knows six songs." Born in northern NJ, daughter of a big band singer, her mother was not at all surprised to find her constantly dancing and singing. Karen studied piano at the age of eight, and at thirteen cracked her piggy bank to buy a guitar. She started writing songs in her early teens, was a soloist in choirs, played in many bands, and has always had a deep love of performing.

Acoustic Guitar magazine calls Pete Heitzman "A true virtuoso of groove, with a sly touch that, that whenb combined with Savoca's in-the-pocket drumming and spectacularly soulful vocals, gives the duo the impact of a four-piece band."

Having performed together for decades, Savoca and Heitzman's chemistry leaves audiences uplifted, wowing 10,000 from a festival main stage as effortlessly as they charm an intimate black box theater.

Special Guests the Singer and the Songwriter

The Singer and the Songwriter open the show. They are Rachel Garcia and Thu Tran, and their original compositions conjure timeless pop, jazz and R&B melodies that stay with you. Truly alluring songs with tight guitar arrangments and Rachel's dreamy voice. Another great find you are sure to enjoy!

This will be another spectacular show at the the Bay Area's most intimate and acoustically awesome venue! As usual, plan on enjoying home made refreshments and catching up with friends and neighbors on the break. Don't miss it!
