Who is SBBA?

Salem Bike Boulevard Advocates started three years ago when a small group of citizens began to talk openly about their vision of a network of bicycle boulevards in Salem. The group aims to increase active transportation options, improve neighborhood livability, and promote comfortable walking and biking for people of all ages and abilities. Core leaders of the group have included Angela & Gary Obery, Sarah Rice, and Jeff Leach, but the hard work of bringing new options to Salemites has been a shared effort by each and every person who has provided testimony to City Council, attended one of the project open houses, followed SBBA efforts via this newsletter and/or Facebook, and sought to include walk and bike advocates in the discussions that help form the future of our hometown. A HUGE thank you to all those who have participated in the process to develop Salem's first Neighborhood Greenway!

Drum roll, please...

The Winter Maple Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan comes before the Salem City Council on Monday, April 9th, at 6pm (Room 240, 555 Liberty St. SE.) for approval. SBBA invites all those who want safe and comfortable walking and biking options in Salem's neighborhoods to attend Council and show their support for the plan.

Come sit in the gallery with your bike helmet, walking shoes, or 'Walk & Bike' sticker (provided) to show your support! If you choose, sign-up to testify with a "Yes, please!" message or offer written or verbal support for the final few changes that would help make the plan its very best!

Comfortable active transportation options and neighborhood livability is a great reason to celebrate the completed plan!
