Weekly Meeting

Please join us for our next weekly gathering, taking place this Sunday, April 22nd, for meditation and dharma sharing, 6:30pm at Unitarian Place (Kingston Unitarian Fellowship), 206 Concession Street. Linda Tucker will be bell minding.
The Greatest Gift

"One of the greatest gifts we can offer people is to embody non-attachment and non-fear. This is a true teaching, more precious than money or material resources. Many of us are very afraid, and this fear distorts our lives and makes us unhappy. We cling to objects and to people like a drowning person clings to a floating log. Practicing to realize nondiscrimination, to see the interconnectedness and impermanence of all things, and to share this wisdom with others, we are giving the gift of non-fear. Everything is impermanent. This moment passes. That person walks away. Happiness is still possible."

Film Premiere

Thank You

Thanks to Wendy Huot and The Screening Room for welcoming both our sangha and Kingston Mindfulness Sangha (formerly Be Still Sangha) last Saturday, to lead a short program before the Kingston premiere of Walk With Me, and thanks to everyone who braved the ice storm to attend the screening. Despite the weather, the film played to a nearly full house! A second screening was added that day and several more during the week, so we hope that everyone has had a chance to see this wonderful film.

Sunday at KUF

Wonder

Rev. Shawn Newton, Senior Minister of First Unitarian Congregation of Toronto will speak this Sunday, April 22nd at 10:30 am. The word "wonder," has, of course, many different though connected meanings. As a noun, it can be a splendid mix of surprise and admiration, or something (or someone!) remarkable and strange. As a verb, wonder speaks to that deep desire to know more, to feel a restless curiosity, about something. It can also be a way to express doubt. And, obviously, to feel amazement. All these definitions are relevant to our relationship with our planet. To celebrate Earth Day, we'll explore our changing relationship with our beloved "Blue Dot" through the many lenses of wonder.
Being Yourself

"Be yourself. Life is precious as it is. All the elements for your happiness are already here. There is no need to run, strive, search, or struggle. Just be. Just being in the moment in this place is the deepest practice of meditation. Most people cannot believe that just walking as though you have nowhere to go is enough. They think that striving and competing are normal and necessary. Try practicing aimlessness for just five minutes, and you will see how happy you are during those five minutes."

Our sangha has two teams helping to share leadership and facilitation of our meetings. Our Bell Minders Team are mindful facilitators for our weekly gatherings, as well as retreats, taking beautiful care of our friends in the practice including the bell. Our Sangha Care Team facilitates sangha care meetings, plans retreats, minds our library and resources, and coordinates outreach. If you are interested in helping with either or both, contact interbeingkingston@gmail.com for more information.
