Northern Opportunities Scholarships Awarded
Kain Foundation is pleased to announce that we've funded 10 more Northern Opportunities scholarships. Youth Opportunities, whom we collaborate closely with on this initiative, received a whopping 53 applications in Term 1 from 12 schools. They've awarded a total of 30 scholarship (26 new, 4 renewal from 2017) - 10 sponsored by the Kain Foundation. We're looking forward to celebrating with these students and their families at the award ceremony on 24-May.

Fusion joins our corporate partner network
We're thrilled to welcome the team at Fusion, an award winning digital agency with offices in Adelaide (Rundle St), Melbourne and Sydney as our newest corporate partner. Fusion has joined Kain Foundation to give their staff opportunities for hands-on community volunteering and because they see the value of social investment in educational and employment opportunities for at-risk youth.

Halpin Financial Services is fundraising
Over the last few years, three of Halpin Financial Services' team members have volunteered their time to visit Uganda and help with the Uganda project. This year they are also volunteering for our Northern Opportunities initiative to provide educational and employment support for at-risk youth from the northern suburbs of Adelaide. They have launched their fundraising campaign including selling 2019 Adelaide Entertainment Memberships and a wine drive (info coming soon). Please show them your support.

Vollie features our completed project
We are just loving Vollie.com.au. We've used them to list several projects which have been on our wish list for months or more but that we didn't quite want to spend your donations to make happen. With Vollie, we've connected with some talented volunteers who wants to give back (sound familiar? It's just like our corporate partner philosophy!). They connected us with James in late 2017 who redesigned our website - this project was featured in their April newsletter. We've recently appointed another Vollie volunteer, Meena, to be our guest blogger - stay tuned for what we're sure will be some great posts written by Meena.

Mentoring with Raise Foundation
Our Commercial Manager, Lisa, recently completed the 2-day mentor training through Raise Foundation. Together with 30 other volunteers ranging in age from 20 to 60, Lisa learned heaps about how the Raise in-school mentoring program works, her role as a mentor, how to mentor effectively, issues facing young people today and what to do in difficult situations. She'll be volunteering as a mentor over the next two terms at an Adelaide high school - and the plan is to then open this up to our corporate partner volunteers to serve as mentors through our Northern Opportunities initiative.

Kain Foundation has partnered with Soulful Concepts to launch our 2018 Uganda Trip.
This year's trip is special. It's your chance to directly participate in the positive social change happening in rural Uganda after our first two years of our investment in the Kkoba Community and Jr. Landcare projects. And, for the first time, we're opening the trip up to people outside of our corporate partner network who want to give back by fundraising and experiencing this work firsthand.
