The 2019 National Math Festival is just one year away! Let's start the fun today with a Live Online Q&A with Dr. Mary Lou Zeeman (Bowdoin College), who is poised to answer your questions about "Math, Tipping Points, and Planet Earth" today from 2-3pm Eastern!

TODAY 4/19 from 2-3 PM Eastern: "Ask Me Anything: Tipping Points and Planet Earth" Online Q&A with Dr. Mary Lou Zeeman

What do lakes, fisheries, coral reefs, moods, kayaks, social media posts, the spread of disease, and the Earth's energy balance all have in common? Tipping points: when a system changes abruptly from one alternative steady state to another. How can mathematical modeling help support decision making in the face of these alternative possibilities? What makes for resilience? What causes change?

Join mathematician Dr. Mary Lou Zeeman (Bowdoin College) with your questions about these exciting and accessible dynamics, which can inform your own choices and those of our global society. She will be joined by environmental scientist and polar researcher Dr. Ross Lieblappen (Vermont Technical College).

The Q&A opens 30 minutes in advance, and Dr. Zeeman will begin answering your questions at 2:00pm. Ask her anything!
