RSVP Today for:

Unleashing Potential Through Renovation

DLA Architects invites you to participate in our annual Learning Environments Symposium. This year’s theme is uncovering the power of innovative spaces. We’ll show how existing schools can be transformed into learning environments that align with today’s educational goals.
Wednesday, April 25, 2018
from 3:30 PM - 7:30 PM
John F. Kennedy Elementary School
3945 Wehrman Avenue
Schiller Park, IL 60176

RSVP
Reception to immediately follow at
McCormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks
5320 N. River Rd., Rosemont, IL 60018

(from around 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm)

Leading the discussion will be Schiller Park School District 81 Superintendent Dr. Kimberly Boryszewski and Kennedy Elementary School Principal Melissa Kartsimas. They’ll discuss the teaching challenges of the previous building layout and how that has changed today with the new spaces.

You will tour flexible classrooms and small group spaces that encourage communication and peer-to-peer learning. You’ll see the innovative learning corridor that opens the LRC to the school community. These administrators will share what went well and what they would do differently. They will discuss how the changes in the school environment changed the everyday activity within the building, including the professional development challenges they encountered.

DLA's Director of Design Matt Lowe will elaborate on the scope of work and design challenges with the multi-phase project presented. In addition, we will share other innovative projects we are currently working on.

Join us immediately following the symposium for a reception. From around 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm, we'll enjoy cocktails and hors-d'oeuvres at McCormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steak located at 5320 N. River Rd., Rosemont, IL 60018.
"I thought it was a great way to infuse the purpose and value of the space and design planning. I appreciate that function came first, but it was beautiful. The speaker was very fun and it added to the event.
