WEEKLY WRANGLER

Kindergarten Registration - this Wed., April 25
Kindergarten registration is this Wed., April 25 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Wasatch County Health Department. The makeup day for registration will be Fri., April 27 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the same location.

Please note - In an effort to meet the growing number of parental requests for all-day kindergarten, and the Board of Education’s goal to increase academic achievement in literacy and mathematics, Wasatch County School District will offer full-day kindergarten for all kindergarten students in the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. For more information on kindergarten registration, click here

Dual Immersion Lottery Application
The Dual Immersion lottery application process begins this week. Learn more about the Dual Immersion program and application process here. The dual immersion application form is available here. The lottery closes April 30 at noon.

Fill Our Shelves!
Midway Parents! We are excited to roll out a brand new literacy program next year. Part of this program includes creating bookmarks that include a whole series of books that kids can check off and turn in for charms and brag tags. The idea is to guide kids into a series they love so they always know what to read next. In order to do this we need more books!

We've created an Amazon Registry with book titles needed by the school library. You can hop on, choose just one book or a whole series, and the books will be delivered directly to the school. What a fun way to support our students!

Click on the link or search the Amazon Wedding Registry under "Midway Elementary School."

We would love to honor your contribution with a "donated by" sticker on each book. It would be a great legacy to leave for our outgoing 5th graders - wink, wink!

Calling All Students!
(Written by student Baylen Huntsman)

We, the Literacy Council, would like you to submit any writing that you have! If you do, you will have a chance to be in the first issue of the school's new literary magazine, The Wrangler!

We would love poems, essays, papers, novels; anything you have written or typed! We will have about 5-7 stories; isn’t that exciting? However, make it quick. There is only a little bit of time until the paper is out! Whelp, that’s it Wranglers. Remember to turn the written papers into the office. With the digital ones, you will have to email them to bh14644@ms.wasatch.edu or to Baylen Russell Huntsman. If you are having difficulties, ask your teacher to help you. Well, get writing!

Upcycle Your Kids Magazines!
The PTA is now accepting kid-friendly magazine and book donations to be used in a reading kiosk that will be unveiled at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year!  It doesn't matter how old the magazines are, we want them!

Magazine examples: Ranger Rick, National Geographic Kids, Highlights, etc.

Book examples: Guinness Book of World Records, Riddles/Jokes, etc.

A Read Bin will be in the office beginning Monday, April 16th through the end of the school year. Please be sure to attach a post-it to your item(s) with your name or who you would like to have the recognition for the donation.

Any questions, please contact Sharka Fabian at moshfabian@yahoo.com.

5K Benefiting Special Education - April 28

Arts Night, May 3 from 6-8 p.m.
We are excited to announce that we will be having an Arts Night on Thursday, May 3 from 6-8 p.m. We will have lots of fun Arts Rotations. The committee is looking for some amazing Midway students (or former Midway students) who would be interested in coming and performing musical solos or duets that night.  The performances would be about two minutes long and there will be multiple pianos available.

If you are interested in having your child perform, please email Liz Brown by next Thursday, April 26th: Elizabeth.brown@wasatch.edu

School Library Fundraising
We are steadily working toward our goal of $50,000 for improvements to the school library! Thanks to those who have contributed so far!

Donate to this important project that will enhance learning for all students at our school. Students and parents can also donate coins and cash to fundraising jars that will be in the main office.
