And what do the children say?

The end of the school year is fast approaching and one Cincinnati area club thought it would be beneficial to see what the children thought. The leaders already knew just by the kids' interests in learning about Jesus, their participation in club and the changed lives of some, but getting it "straight from the horse's mouth" always proves enlightening. Many liked club because it's about God although snacks and songs are the best part to one little boy. Comments include:

  • "we get to learn about God and we get missionry (missionary) stories, games and kind helpers (teachers)"
  • "we get to come in every week and learn about God"
  • "I learned that God rose up out of the grave on easter"
  • "thank you for teaching us about how Jesus died on the cross for our sins. You guys taught me a lot of stuff that I didn't know"
  • "we get to learn about God and where its the only club in school that you learn about God"
  • "it is fun it helps me learn God is rell (real)"
You're Invited!
At the end of the year we like to get together to celebrate, hear testimonies from our clubs and learn what the Lord is doing in our area. Please join us for lunch on Tuesday, May 15th at noon. It's a great way to learn more about CEF and Good News Clubs if you are curious and an even better way to introduce friends to CEF.  Please RSVP at (513) 456-1675 or carolyn@cefcincinnati.org.

CEF has a summer missionary program for teens called Christian Youth in Action that is an excellent training and ministry opportunity for evangelistic-minded youth.
Meet the Local Committee

Hello! I am Ruth Boyatt and have been involved with Good News Clubs for four years. I've been married 36 years to a wonderful Christian man, have two grown daughters, one granddaughter and we are expecting a grandson in June.

After retiring from 32 years of public school teaching in 2013, my husband and I prayed about how to serve the Lord together. We worship at Northern Hills Bible Chapel where we've taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday School and have been church camp directors for 15 summers. However, my heart yearned to be back in the public school classroom teaching little ones about the gospel…the only thing that really matters! And since the public schools abolished prayer we wondered how can we bring the truth of the gospel there.
W
e began researching how to start a Bible club in our local public school but, of course, going out alone with no organization to back us wasn’t a good idea. My husband, Joe, went searching on the internet and found Child Evangelism Fellowship and we were thrilled. Here is an organization that teaches the truth, the full gospel, in a wonderfully organized approach. We met with leadership, had amazing training on Good News Clubs, formed our team and started our first club at Brent Elementary in Finneytown.

What a blessing it was to present the gospel within the walls of the public school!  I have had to educate many Christians and non-Christians about the Supreme Court case that allows religious clubs in schools if other clubs are given space. Having spent 32 years in public schools, I know these children need the Lord and it has been wonderful to show Christian love and witness to the school staff as well. Being a part of CEF has blessed us, grown us and shown us that God is at work even in the darkest places. Praise Him for His glorious plan of salvation that we can publicly proclaim in the public schools.
