1. Parents of rising 5th graders: Phillips Middle School SIT Applications
It is the time of year when Phillips’ parents will elect 3 representatives to the School Improvement Team (SIT). Applicants must be a parent or guardian of a rising 6th or rising 7th grade student at Phillips. (Parents of rising 8th grade students cannot apply due to the two-year commitment required unless a sibling continues at the school). You must be willing to review materials, listen to other parents and represent their concerns at monthly meetings, voice your opinion, and work with other SIT members to achieve consensus on issues discussed at SIT meetings. Applications are due by Friday, April 20th.

2. Orange Resilience Initiative (ORI) will show the award-winning, must-see 60-minute film Resilience: The Biology of Stress & The Science of Hope on Monday, April 30th, 6-8:00 pm and Saturday June 2nd, 10am-12:00 at Silverspot Cinema in Chapel Hill at University Place. Event is FREE; tickets are not required. This film is intended for an adultaudience. Please register to attend.

This limited-release documentary examines how abuse, neglect, household dysfunction and other adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) affect children's development & health outcomes in adulthood. There will be a panel discussion following the film about how together we as a community can prevent ACEs
