For the first time in history Armortek has produced a kit under licence ... and to start with a company known quite literally for the "Rolls-Royce" of quality is something we are very proud about.
The licensing agreement not only gives us the right to use the names "Rolls-Royce" and Silver Ghost", but also allows us to put the RR symbol on some of the kit components (as was the case on the real model) and to provide the Spirit of Ecstasy with the Chassis kit.
The results are stunning and it is fitting the two kits - the Rolls-Royce Admiralty Pattern Armoured Car and the Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost are our most detailed kits ever produced - with over 2,000 components.
Update on progress ... we started the R&D process at the end of February/ early March. Thanks to The Wheatcroft Military Collection we were able to spend a full day photographing and measuring an immaculately restored full scale version.
With all the amazing machinery on display, it was difficult to stay focused (!), but with 436 photographs, 19 pages of sketches and over 100 measurement points we made good progress.
The biggest challenge so far, has been the running gear - but good news to report. - we have designed a track that has rubber pads.
The images below show the progress to date. Still a way to go on the design front, but we remain confident of a summer release.
