Public Art is coming to Norwood!
The Jerome Gun Hill BID is excited to announce that we are a 2018 program partner with DOT ART, the NYC Department of Transportation's public art program.Together with DOT ART and artist Jenny Hung, the BID will unveil the "Norwood Column" later this spring at the intersection of Grand Concourse and Mosholu Parkway. The column will stand 10 feet tall and will feature posters made up of quotes from the people who live, work, play, and shop in the Norwood community. The posters will change every 8 weeks over the course of ten months, with each installation reflecting a different theme.
This project presents a unique opportunity for community members to play an active role in the creation of public art in their neighborhood! To participate click here to enter your responses through Google forms.

BID Launches Storefront Improvement grant program!
The BID is excited to announce that we have launched a Storefront Improvement program to help merchants beautify their businesses. Longtime merchant Ann, co-owner of Ted Shoe repair on Jerome Avenue, participated in the program and debuted her new awning last week. By sharing the cost of the new awning with the BID, storefront improvements are now more accessible for merchants. Ted Shoe Repair has been a fixture in the community for over 30 years, doing excellent work with top notch customer service. Local merchants will now offer discounts and deals for Montefiore and North Central Bronx employees.
If you see a discount program sticker in the window of a business you are in luck, they offer discounts designed to help you shop local and save! From 20% off all services at Space Salon to 10% off smoothies at Tasty Picks, these deals make shopping and dining in the district all the more enticing and affordable.
The program will be rolled out continuously with more businesses joining in over the next few months. Keep an eye out on our Instagram @jeromegunhillbid for the full list of participating merchants.
