Opening Night Thursday!
The show is directed by Arthur Martone with musical and vocal direction by Michael Miele. It is choreographed by Maryanne Mager-Dombrowski.
Lead roles and cast members include: Princess Winifred: Reagan Kennedy '18, Prince Dauntless: Gabe Gallagher '19, Queen Aggravain: Paige Butler '18, Prince Harry: Jon Reddinger '18, Lady Larken: Adria Urbanowicz '20-, King Sextimus: Mitch Razanauskas '19, Minstrel: Dylan Vergotz '21, Jester: Brian Dunn '19, and Wizard: Jake Zimmerman '18.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and $5 for students and are available at the door.

Celebrate Spring (finally!) with the Laker Glow 5K!
The Laker Glow 5K is one of the most fun MPS community events of the year. We want to see you there! Sign up by Monday, April 16 to guarantee getting a special glow in the dark race tee-shirt. Prices are $20 now and $25 on race day. You can register at mpslakers.com/lakerglow.
A discounted price of $15 has been extended for MPS students. Students received a special coupon code in their email announcements this week.
The race is open to everyone. The more the merrier. You can run in the 5k or walk the mile. All participants get tee-shirts, finishers get medals, and lots of category winners get plaques.
Laker Glow is Saturday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. at MPS, followed by a Smith’s hot dog party in the cafeteria.
There are still a few volunteer spots open. Please contact Karen Groshek by Monday to choose your assignment and order your free volunteer tee-shirt. She can be reached at kgroshek@mpslakers.com.

Accolades and Works of Mercy
Ms. Lindsey Corle’s yearlong painting class created a mural at the Mercy Center for Women. Students who participated included l to r: Tommy Palotas ’20, Kaitlyn Kneidinger ’19, Chayne Zheng ’20, Katherine Wang ’18 and Bella Yuan ’18. Ms. Corle’s student teacher, Alysson, was also present and very helpful.

Annual Integration Bee at the University of Pittsburgh
Sophomores Lyle Huang and Tyler Warzynak recently competed in the annual integration bee at the University of Pittsburgh. Special congratulations go to Lyle Huang, who took 2nd place.

MPS Mercy Service Group Donates Easter Baskets
Over Easter break, the MPS Mercy Service Group donated 30 baskets full of candy and toys to the children at the Mercy Center for Women. Every child within the Mercy Center for Women system received a basket on Easter morning. Diandra Jones Visits MPS
Our dance students learned some unique routines on Thursday from alumna Diandra Jones from the MPS class of 1997. Diandra is a former Irish step dancer, who has studied extensively in Europe, South America, Africa and the Caribbean. Thank you, Diandra for spending the day with us.

Athletic News
Playing in Saturday night’s 44th Annual All-Star Basketball Classic were seniors Joe Dombkowski and Jake Brooks. The City was coached by the MPS staff as they defeated the County 77-56. Selected to the All-Region First Team Boys Basketball Team was junior Alex Miklinski, shooting guard for MPS.
- Congratulations to the girls softball team on winning their region opener Monday by a score of 9-8 over Northeast.
- Track & Field opened the 2018 season with the girls sweeping Northwestern & Iroquois, and the boys split. The boys defeated Northwestern & lost to Iroquois. They will be participating this Saturday at the Harborcreek Invitational starting at 9:00 a.m.
- Baseball will play host to Fairview on Friday at Ainsworth at 4:00 p.m.
- Boys tennis will play Fairview Friday at 4:00 p.m. at Pennbriar
