We have some great news! You are going to want to remember...we are fortunate enough to have set up a Meet the Winemaker event! Laurent Miquel is a brand that I have loved for 15 or more years. It has come and gone from the market over the years and I couldn't have been happier when Kelly from Free Run wine Merchants walked in, bringing the brand back! The wines are consistent, affordable and very accessible. You are going to have the opportunity to meet the man who makes the wines, Laurent Miquel himself will be here! This family has been making wines sine 1791, that's 8 generations of wine makers & the wines are true to the Languedoc character. As we get closer, we'll have more details for you, and I hope you'll take advantage of this once in a life time opportunity to meet the man that makes the wine! Save the date, May 22nd. You may or may not know by now that Murphy's Delivers. What better time to take advantage if that than Apple Blossom? We'll bring your beer & wine to your door. Call in and order, or stop by and select what you want, and we'll drop it at your door. Minimums are 6 bottles of wine or a case of beer. The only thing we can't deliver is kegs (get real, have you met me & Jp? There's no way we can hump kegs around) Orders will have to be placed by 5/2 & we'll even waive the delivery fee. We have a tasting lined up with Dominic of Virginia Imports on Saturday /Tomorrow April 21st. The tasting will be from 1p-4p. We are featuring wines from Washington State & Oregon.
- The Mullan Road Cellars 2014 blend of Cabernet, Merlot & Cab Franc will be a special treat & a special price for you, too. It's $50.59 a bottle and you'll be able to pick it up for $44.99, plus your 10% discount which drops the price to $40.49, so you are saving over 10 bucks a bottle. It's also a 91 point wine according to Robert Parker. Come on! This wine is a Washington State project from Dennis Cakebread and the wine maker of Silver Oak, Aryn Morrell. You don't get much of a better American pedigree in wine than that.
- Next, you can try Carabella Vineyard Chehalam Mountains Chardonnay Dijon 76 Clone, 2013. The Wine Enthusiast says this wine is 91 point wine & we got a great deal on this one. It's usually $30.99 & during the tasting you'll pick it up for $22.99 plus your 10% off, dropping it to $20.69, another savings of over 10 bucks a bottle! It's steely, with just-ripe apple and pear fruit, braced with racy, lemony acidity and a streak of minerality. It was fermented in 100% French oak, one sixth new.
- Plowbuster Pinot Noir 2014, from southern Oregon, is quality and value. There's ample acidity and drying tannins, in a wine that has fresh raspberry and cherry-fruit flavors. Normally it's $22.99, we'll have it for $20.99 plus 10% off brings it to $18.89. It's also rated , 88 points according to the Wine Enthusiast.
- Finally, you'll sample Goose Ridge Columbia Valley Cabernet G3 2015. It's rich, deep aromatic expression of plum and dark cherry with toasty notes of vanilla and savory spices. The dark fruit flavors continue to resonate on the palate over a supple tannic structure leading to a long, yet soft, finish. It's $17.59, with 10% off, you'll get it for $15.83

Winchester's good old fashioned block party is Sunday!!! Rally in the Alley is happening on April 22nd from noon to 6p. We'll be there volunteering all day. The event is free, if you just want to come, hang out and listen to some great music! It'll take place in the Palace Parking Lot between The Old Town Mall & Indian Alley on the south end of the Mall.

So. Here we are. The great collaboration reveal. I spent a day at a brewery (Escutcheon). I helped "make" a beer. (Really, all I did was take pics, shoot video & eat pizza) And the end result? The GodMotherShip Maibock. What's a Maibock? It's a lager brewed to bock strength (6.3% to 7.4% abv). They are generally released in May (Mai) & lighter in color than regular bocks. It's a spring transitional beer. It will only be available locally in kegs & and it will be unleashed in the tap room at the brewery on Thursday April 26th at 5pm. YOU ARE INVITED! Stop in, raise a glass, make fun of the poster and find out what Master Brewer John Hovermale's take on a Maibock is. Find out the story behind the name & have a beer with us! The United Bank Blooming Wine Fest is happening the weekend of April 27th and 28th. You're invited to stop by Murphy's too! We will be sampling Virginia wines on Friday night the 27th from 6p-9p and anything could happen on the 28th because we'll be popping bottles open ALL DAY LONG. Please make plans to stop by!
