Hi <<First Name>> ~

How do you handle the inevitable dry spells in your career?  Do you blame the business or throw yourself under the bus?  What if there was a better way?

The good news is you're not alone. Even celebrities have dry spells. Sandro Oh had a dry spell that lasted 4 years and this was even after she won an Emmy award for her portrayal of Cristina Yang in Grey's Anatomy!

After she left Grey’s Anatomy, Sandra waited for offers and juicy scripts to come her way.   But there was nothing coming in on the scale of her role on Grey’s Anatomy which turned her into a household name.  The lack of certain offers was, in her words,"heartbreaking."  Then Sandra got a life changing call offering her the starring role in a new BBC TV crime drama called  "Killing Eve."  In interviews, Sandra says, "It took me 30 years to get this call... I left Grey's Anatomy four years ago, and have just been actively waiting. And what I mean by that is actively trying to find the right project to fall in love with."

What if we could all take a page out of Sandra Oh's play book? Can we put our fishing line in the deep waters and actively wait for our BIG FISH to come a nibblin' without falling into despair or giving up?

What does it mean to actively wait for something to come into our lives whether its an acting role, a better job or a healthy relationship? I think acting waiting means to intentionally prepare our mind, body, talent and soul for a completely new normal.

There's a saying that when bad weather prevents fishermen from going out to sea,  they attend to the business of mending nets.  In a similar way, I have used the summer to do just that.  I've been turning my attention to mending my marketing nets.   It was time for a website overhaul and an acting reel redo.

So now.. ...drum roll please.... Here they are, folks!  SDC's brand new WEBSITE and acting REEL.

At the end of the day, whether we are mending our nets or sailing the high seas,  we are always at choice.  Today, I choose to love every part of my acting journey whether I'm in the spotlight or actively waiting in the wings.

Happy fishing!

And thanks for being part of my tribe.
