Hello, Play Therapists!


Last week I challenged you to take part in the School Safety Summit with me. It’s a free online training event on April 20th and it’s going to be filled with such valuable information that you might want to clear your whole schedule.

I wanted to tell you a little bit about the people involved in this event:

 

Mental Health Professionals Tract:

Paris Goodyear-Brown just finished a phenomenal Tedx Talk in Nashville, TN and is an author, speaker and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor that has been running “Kindness” play therapy groups in schools.

Dr. David Crenshaw-recipient of the New York Association for Play Therapy Lifetime Achievement Award is talking about using play therapy to address anger and rage with children who have experienced deprivation.

Dr. Jessica Stone-co-creator of the Virtual Sandtray app is taking us inside the world of digital tools to teach you how to speak the language of today’s children in a therapeutic way.

Dr. Roz Heiko- author and Sandplay specialists shows you how to incorporate group sandtray experiences in your work in communities that have experienced a common traumatic event.

Lynn Louise Wonders- a respected Play Therapist and Red Cross trained professional talks about grief responses across all age groups and how play therapy can be utilized.

Sophia Ansari, clinician and trainer, brings us the power of the Superhero and strength based therapy.  This one is going to be fun!

Clair Mellenthin, author and worldwide presenter, brings information on how traumatic events impact even the most secure attachments and how to repair attachments through play.


Parents/Teacher Tract:

Howard Glasser-creator of the Nurtured Heart Approach has written 15 books and trains mental health professionals, parents and teachers on ways to build their greatness and inner wealth!

Katie Thomas is a clinician that was in Las Vegas during the shooting that happened last year and is sharing her experience as a survivor.

Lisa Dion- creator of Synergetic Play Therapy is talking about ways we might be unintentionally increasing aggression by keeping kids too calm.

Robyn Gobbel who is training teachers across the country on how to use what we know about the brain to help kids in class is talking about using connections to bring the most difficult kids closer!

Nicole O-Pries- certified trauma professional who has worked extensively at crimes scenes is doing a Q&A to help parents find words to say to answer the tough questions about gun violence.

Dr. Susan Elswick- published author and researcher has been helping schools create or improve their crisis interventions plans to make sure they are actually prepared for a traumatic event and she’s bringing a whole toolkit to this event!

I know our schedules are so busy, but take a second to just register for this event so that you get this great information.
