Farewell to Manzanar by Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston

May 12 through June 16, 2018

2018 marks the sixteenth anniversary of Santa Monica Public Library’s annual community reading program Santa Monica Reads.  Popular with local residents and visitors, the program invites everyone to read and talk about the same book and its themes at special events and book discussions held throughout the city.  The Library is pleased to announce Farewell to Manzanar by Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston and James D. Houston as this year's selection.  See the Resource Guide for a full listing of programs and events.

Congrats to LEAF Program Participants
On April 14, two of the Library’s adult literacy learners were presented awards for their Writer to Writer submissions at the Southern California Library Literacy Network Conference.  Bella Grib and Mohammad Mousavi were honored for the letters they wrote to authors whose books inspired them.  A big congratulations to them and their tutors, Glenna Dumey and Laura Buhl!
