Our apologies for the delay in getting our newsletter out to you all, our fabulous editor of the Website and Newsletter Dianne Cunningham,  resigned at the end of last year due to work commitments - many thanks to Dianne from all of us for the hard work she has put into the Trust during her time as a Trustee.

Well we have been busy behind the scenes.... here is an update of what we have been doing and what is coming up in the next couple of months.

2017 Christmas Raffle Winner

Many thanks to everyone who purchased tickets in our raffle at the end of last year.  We raised  $1407 and  congratulations to Steve Wong who won First Prize.  Also a huge thank you to our volunteers who sold tickets and donated prizes towards this raffle.

Bollywood Bonanza

On the 3rd of February The Northland Indian Association (NIAI) organised a magical night of Indian culture with Bollywood dancing complete with a 3 course meal and cash bar at Forum North.  NIAI hosted this evening with 100% of net proceeds going to BCSNT. This was a great evening of dancing and fun - our heartfelt thanks to Ralph Correa and his team for organising this event and BCSNT received a donation of $3,000 from the proceeds.  Check out some of the pics below of this colourful evening:

Cancer Society - Relay for Life 2018

BCSNT were invited by the Cancer Society Northland to host the Candlelight Ceremony at this years Relay for Life on the 17th March 2018.  The Candlelight Ceremony started at 9pm when all participants stop walking and gather for this ceremony.
This was an incredibly moving ceremony and one we were very proud to be a part of.

The remembrance was introduced by Lisa McCall our Chairperson and then we had four speakers who read a paragraph each of the poem "Light a Candle" in their own language.  Our four speakers were of Maori, Indian, Chinese and Indonesian descent and represented the diversity of cultures within our Northland community - many thanks to these people who spoke so well and battled with the very windy conditions to light their candles on stage.
Coffee Groups
These are held on the first and third Thursday of every month at Mokaba at the Town Basin from 9.30am.  Look out for the pink flower on the table. Mark these dates in your calendar: April - 26th, May - 10th and 24th, June - 7th and 21st, July 5th and 19th

WINGS are holding their Pamper Day on the 26th May at the St Johns Golden Church in Kamo Road from 11 - 4pm.  Tickets are $5 and are available on the day or from the Himalayan Trading Post.  We will be there with a fabulous raffle so come along and enjoy some pampering and support our raffle!
Pink Ribbon Breakfast
A reminder that May is Pink Ribbon Breakfast month. This is the 10th year that The Breast Cancer Foundation has hosted this event. To those who are hosting a breakfast in May we wish you well as money raised helps The Breast Cancer Foundation support patients and funds life-saving research.
(Please remember that all funds raised go towards The Breast Cancer Foundation not Breast Cancer Support Northland Trust)

We are always on the lookout for volunteers - would you like to be called on to help with one off events or do you have an hour or a day every once in a while to spare?  Maybe you can help sell raffle tickets or source items for raffle prizes - all items big or small are greatly received!  Please contact us by email - info@breastcancernorthland.co.nz or - we would love to hear from you.
