Outdoor Workshop: Sketching and Drawing On Location
Along Hwy 12: within 5 miles (or less) of Oakmont
Bill Monaghan – May 12-13, 2018 Sat. and Sun. 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
What you learn and practice here will be used in every art class you pursue and in all of your paintings. Every time you begin a painting you need to sketch the subject to define your view and composition. With no pressure to create a painting, this 2-day workshop allows you to focus on getting the subject, composition and sketch refined.
The first half of each day will be used to explore various sketch exercises, techniques and tools. You will explore composition through sketching various views and subjects. From these sketches we will choose a subject for a final drawing.
The second half of each day will focus on creating two final drawings. These drawings can then be used to prepare for a painting sometime in the future
First day is in a landscape environment (to be announced). The “large” scenes can be intimidating. Learn to see smaller subject areas in the view, compositional layout, creating light and shadow, and quick drawing techniques.
Second day will be in an area with human-made objects. Here you will refine the views and learn simple perspective skills to create a better, more accurate sketch and drawing.
Fee for the workshop is $145.00
