Worm Farmin'
Claudia digging up that gold
Replacing organic matter and the pallet to avoid compression while this space functions as a walkway.
Claudia and Hiroshi sifting the worm castings
The final product is pure bioavailable nutrients!
Don't have a greenhouse with pathways for worm farms?? No problem! Watch a Jerome build bucket worm farms here. Build them in your backyard and turn your food scraps into fresh worm gold all year long!
Events!
Aspen Business Connect
They discussed issues in our food system, how they are addressing the problems in the system, the soil, and the philosophy through education and practicing regenerative farming techniques in front of a large crowd of Aspen visitors and locals. We met so many cool people who want to do something to improve our food systems! (photos by Luke Dahlgren)
Carbondale Wellness Fair
Vanessa and Jen manned our booth at the Carbondale Wellness Fair selling wildflower seed balls, trees, salves, and spreading the good word about CRMPI and all the ways our operations support good health (nutrient dense food, active lifestyle, relationships with plants, ample cat time....)
Basalt Seed Swap
Our friends and seed saving nerds got together at the library to swap some of their goodies from last year. Seed saving is an important tool for adapting plants to your specific climate!
First Class of the Season!

Our Favorite Spring Recipes
AYURVEDIC VEGGIE LENTIL SOUP
Veggies - anything you have left over from last year!
Greens - the first edibles to sprout in the spring! use anything you can find such as dandelion greens, lambsquarter, sweet potato greens, kale, chard, even comfrey and borage!
Spices - balance your doshas and invigorate your immune system and circulation by adding turmeric, coriander, and cumin to your soup, other good spices to add are ginger, sage, parsley, and basil
Miso - give your soup a delicious probiotic boost by adding miso after cooking, try making your own!
Make It!
Throw all those tasty friends into a big pot and boil it, sometimes we brown some of the veggies and spices first in a cast iron pan to add some more flavors to the mix. And as always, season with fresh key lime juice and ume plum vinegar!
CRMPI SALAD
Get some natives in flowers in there! We've been using borage, nasturtium, and dandelion flowers from the garden, as well as dandelion greens and our new lettuce varieties!
JEROME'S FRUIT SMOOTHIE
Our freezers are packed to the brims with frozen fruit! Busy summer's usually don't allow for too much jam making, but we do take the time to slice, pit, and bag all the fruit we can't eat in the warm season. On a dark snowy December day these bright colored sweet drinks are a welcome boost of energy and laughter.
Fruit - plum, peach, apricot, pear, fig, mulberries, goji berries, jackfruit, papaya, pineapple...it all works
Additions - elderberry syrup, spirulina/green powder, cinnamon (once Jerome confused the cinnamon with cumin which also turned out quite delicious!)
CALLIE'S SEED HUMMUS
Base: Chickpeas, soaked and boiled or sprouted, garlic, key lime, sunflower seeds, almonds, flax seeds, pepitas, olive oil
Red: Add peppers, cayenne, anything spicy
Yellow: Add turmeric, coriander, caraway
Green: Add fennel, dandelion greens, blanched nettles
Blend in a food processor and eat with any meal, spread on flatbread, rice cakes, chard wraps...
ACTIVELY AERATED COMPOST TEA!
