Hey there,<<First Name>>!

Rejection.
It’s the feeling when you post a photo to Instagram and no one likes it.
It’s the feeling when you publish an article and no one reads it.
It’s the feeling when you pitch your book to literary agents and they offer you a generic no.

A big part of the creative process involves rejection. Even though most of us create to satisfy our own urges, our success (i.e. the ability to earn a living creating) depends on how others receive our work. So, when one of our creations is rejected, it stings.

I was rejected this week by a literary agent I queried a few weeks ago.  I know that most authors go through numerous rejections before landing their first book deal.  I expect to receive even more rejections.  But still, knowing that rejection is inevitable doesn’t make it hurt less.  I wrote about it this week in an essay titled, “The First Rejection”.

Even if you don’t write or create things, there’s something to be gained.  Happy reading, and check out a few other updates as well.
