Zuiderstrand het Stillestrand
oil on canvas - 40 x 80 cm
painted on location - Sunday 22 April 2018
€ 675

Here you have the first summer like image of the beach I usually paint at for the new 2018 season. Between Scheveningen and Kijkduin, one of the most natural beautiful beaches along the coast. It's The Hagues' best kept secert and we like to keep it that way!  The catamarans are just arriving, in a few weeks it will look much busier with all them in place.  A nice day to be on location, as we are enjoying unusual warm temperatures for this time of the year. Here below you see me working on the painting.

Yes as you see, when the lights are turned on (Sunshine),  forms take on their true shapes, and all kinds of details get unveiled. This to a painter, can be both fun and at the same time presenting much more of a challenge. Certainly the colors sparkle more vividly, the shapes of the buildings show themselves more, in general the whole scenery becomes much more alive. This translates to getting down a hell of a lot more detail, but not too much, (otherwise it can loose its painterly quality). Do you know the owner of one of the yachts on the painting, if so please forward this posting!

Have been busy framing some of my paintings, I would like to share this with you all,  here is an example of this 30 x 50 cm misty seascape, with what seems to be a frame that works quite well.

And here below another misty scene, with a frame that suits the painting. I have to agree with some of my colleagues, proper presentation of a painting is key to the appreciation of that specific work. Could I ask your opinion on this matter? Feel free to share it with me, thanks.
