AccorHotels sets its sights on Canada

TORONTO — Greg Doman, Kimberly Dickey and a newly-hired Ian Ricci sat down with Canadian Lodging News at the Canadian Hotel Investment Conference last week, and outlined expansion plans for Accor's Fairmont, Novotel, Pullman, and ibis brands in this country.

Vrancor: first new hotels in NOTL in a decade
NIAGARA ON THE LAKE — Vrancor Group, Darko Vranich’s hospitality company based in Hamilton, Ont., now has 19 hotels open, including a dual-branded Holiday Inn Express and Staybridge Suites in Niagara on the Lake which opened April 10.

TORONTO — Culinary Team Ontario held a fundraiser to send the team to the Culinary World Cup 'Expogast' 2018, to be held Nov. 23-29 2018 at the Vatel Club in Luxembourg. Funds also went to Engage and Change, a charity to combat homelessness.

Hoteliers mourn Stuart Jolliffe
Stuart Jolliffe, who was GM at the Westin Harbour Castle, passed away suddenly in the middle of April. His career included extensive involvement in Halifax, where he was not only GM of the Delta Barrington and Delta Halifax, but also helped host the East Coast Music Awards.
