Hello Farm Family!!
The weather has finally turned and all our senses can feel the changing of the season. Our eyes drink up the greenery in the fresh blades of grass, our hands feel the warming of the soil, we hear the robins in their joyful courting song of spring, and we take in the smells of the freshly turned earth, the sap rising in the trees and the moisture in the air. It's the season of potential. We are at the precipice of the season to come. Ken and I feel as if we are standing a the head of the trail of this years journey. Our bags are packed an hopefully we've planned ahead enough to have all the supplies we need, have our contingency plans and our community to support us if we need a hand. It's always exciting an terrifying at the same time....May.
We've gotten off to a good start. These past few weeks we've been planting out our tunnels with early summer greens and flowers. We put our first transplants of spinach and beets out in the field last week. Our crew has started to arrive and we are grateful for the extra hands around the farm and the passion for farming that they bring. Last week Ken got his first chance to try out our new plow! We're super happy with it and want to thank everyone again who contributed to our Kiva loan to get this! Shareholders sign ups for our new Daybreak share have been steadily coming and and our market customers have been mailing in their Market Share deposits. Thank you! We are grateful for your continued support of our farm and are excited about the broadening of our farm community as new families join and as we expand our connections with fellow farmers.
