Weekly Meeting

Uprooting War from Our Hearts

"We often think of peace as the absence of war, that if powerful countries would reduce their weapon arsenals, we could have peace. But if we look deeply into the weapons, we see our own minds - our own prejudices, fears and ignorance. Even if we transport all the bombs to the moon, the roots of war and the roots of bombs are still there, in our hearts and minds, and sooner or later we will make new bombs. To work for peace is to uproot war from ourselves and from the hearts of men and women."

-- Thich Nhat Hanh, Living Buddha, Living Christ

Gratitude

Earth Day Meeting

Deep gratitude to bell minder Linda Tucker and participants in last week's sangha meeting. With skillfulness and compassion, Linda adapted to unforeseen circumstances and led a special Earth Day practice of mindfulness outdoors on a lovely Spring evening. Truly an example of transforming what could have been "mud "into a lotus!
Metta

"May I be peaceful, happy, and light in body and spirit.
May I be safe and free from injury.
May I be free from anger, afflictions, fear, and anxiety.

May you be peaceful, happy, and light in body and spirit.
May you be safe and free from injury.
May you be free from anger, afflictions, fear, and anxiety.

May all beings be peaceful, happy, and light in body and spirit.
May all beings be safe and free from injury.
May all beings be free from anger, afflictions, fear, and anxiety."

--Metta meditation, adapted from T

Our sangha has two teams helping to share leadership and facilitation of our meetings. Our Bell Minders Team are mindful facilitators for our weekly gatherings, as well as retreats, taking beautiful care of our friends in the practice including the bell. Our Sangha Care Team facilitates sangha care meetings, plans retreats, minds our library and resources, and coordinates outreach. If you are interested in helping with either or both, contact interbeingkingston@gmail.com for more information.
