REMINDER
Spring Nature Walk
Saturday, May 5th, 2 p.m.

Just a reminder to join us on Saturday, May 5th, 2 pm at 195 Philrick Drive for a fun and educational nature walk hosted by Matt & Tracy Logan, Logan Tree Experts.

We'll see and learn about native ephemeral flowers (short lived spring flowers) and trees and get a bit of exercise while we're at it..

Don't forget to wear rubber boots. Parking is available in the Logan's shop yard.

If you're adventurous, you can try some coniferous teas. Juniper tea is sweet and delicious. We'll have hot chocolate as well.

You can pick up a sample of natural soap made with pine and spruce from the Rocky Mountain Soap Company. With rosemary and patchouli, it'll make a good natural bug repellent this spring.

Hopefully our native wildflower seeds from the David Suzuki Foundation will arrive in time as we're planning to have seeds for each family. We've picked up some nature inspired note cards from Peterborough GreenUP to give away as well. There will also be draws for prizes.

Calling all Artists

All ages
All skill levels

Deadline extended to May 15th

We're putting together an activity/colouring book to hand out at our summer nature walk. It will be filled with lots of fun activities and drawings that participants can colour.

Don't be intimidated by your skill level. It's most important to us that this be a community project.

Send us your black and white line drawings to be used in our book. We need drawings of native plants and trees, birds, insects, animals, etc., anything you'd expect or hope to find at the cottage. We've posted a list of what we need to our website: http://bblca.ca/images/list%20of%20plants%20and%20animals.jpg

You may include your name and young artists may include their age or grade if they wish. Please name the drawing so that everyone will know what it is. Free-hand sketches and tracings are acceptable.

Deadline for submissions is May 15th. Scan your drawing and email it to: info@bblca.ca or bring it with you to our spring nature walk on May 5th.
Water is at summer levels
The lake is defrosted and the Beaver has sunk! Be sure to check your property to ensure there's nothing in danger of floating away or getting damaged. If you can't make it up, call your neighbour to check for you.
