It's time to come out of your hole!
Yes, we are determined that spring is indeed coming. JP has transplanting fever and has convinced himself that it is warm weather from here on out (ha!) But the seedlings are sick of their pots and so out they are going. Read on for what all is going on now at the farm and where to get the goods...

Meet our crew this year! These are our folks behind the scenes growing your vegetables from seed to market. You likely won't see them unless you come out to our place during the week, But Steffany, Jess, Katie, Hayden, Jessie, Elisabeth, Aaron and Liz are the heartbeats that put the plants in the ground, harvest, wash, pack, sell, cook lunch, manage fertility and more. And we are very pleased that this year Ben has moved up to role as assistant manager which has been a crucial help in freeing up JP to build infrastructure and stay ahead of the moving farm train. Thank you, Glade Road crew!

...also introducing Ellie! Ellie is our livestock guardian puppy (Karakachan breed) to help ward off foxes, hawks, deer and other animals that like to eat the things we raise. She lives on our farm full time and is training to be a working dog. You're welcome to say hello to her when you visit the farm but please note that her pen is electrified. Please do not try to get in her pen, feed her or pet her. Eventually she will not need the pen and will be able to roam the farm to do her job. So far she is adapting happily to her new farm home and adapting less happily to the fact that she can't chase ducks. We're all a work in progress, aren't we?

Masa Mondays are coming back, May 7th to Tabula Rasa. Masa Monday is our weekly community-based meal showcasing old-world cooking techniques with locally-sourced corn and our produce and meats. Proceeds from the meal support the SNAP-double value program at the Blacksburg Farmers Market which doubles each dollar spent there by qualifying families and individuals. Live old-time music is thoughtfully coordinated by Liam Kelly and donated by area musicians. Full plates cost $16 (half off for kids under 10). Join us for this beautiful family-friendly event each Monday in season on the farm.

Our bag farm share starts in less than a month! We still have some spots available with pick up at our farm or the Vintage Cellar on South Main Street (drops also available at Rainbow Riders and Moog if you are members/employees there). Our farm debit card is also still available. Our farm debit card allows you to pick out your own produce on the weeks you choose at the farmers market or our farm stand. Details and sign up for both options can be found on our website. A thousand thanks to our members who have already signed up! Your early sign up has funded our spring labor, seeds, and projects.
