Ms Waddell recommends ......
This is a beautiful, gentle book with lots to think and talk about. There are big, existential ideas, but simply put and beautifully illustrated. It is not a story, but a collection of statements about us humans and the planet on which we live. This leads towards a conservationist message of how important it is to look after each other and our planet - but it’s gentle, not preachy. It’s rather moving really. The illustrations also prompt good chat. I read it with my 4yr old but it would also be nice for older children. Oliver Jeffers is our focus author illustrator for Year 1
Fox School Handbook - update

We are updating the Fox School handbook and Year 3 – 6 have been asked to make some contributions towards this.  The handbook gives information to new pupils and families about life at Fox Primary School. We are asking for pupil’s ideas, drawings and explanations to contribute to this.  Thank you for all the brilliant contributions so far.   We still haven’t received any in the following areas below so if you’re keen – or want to do another one, then please hand these to Mrs Holt-Green by Friday 4th May.  Remember to put your name on your work.
You can choose to write/draw about one or more of the following areas:

  • South playground
  • Star of the week
  • School lunches
  • School journey and school trips
  • Clubs
  • Breakfast club
  • Home learning
  • Reading Gladiators
  • Book club
  • Productions and Class Assemblies

Here are some super examples we have already received
All the staff would  like to say thank you and good luck to Mr Wullf, who is leaving us today. He has been such a fantastic member of staff - teaching children mindfulness and gardening. He will be dearly missed. Today he performed one of his own songs in assembly and received rapturous applause.
Medicines in  School
If your child is required to take prescribed medicine during the school day, please ensure that it is handed in via the school office;

We need parental permission in order to administer any medication. For health and safety reasons, children are not allowed to keep any medication in their bags.
FSA News

Change to FSA Entity and Updated Constitution
The FSA is converting to a new legal entity, and in doing so is updating its constitution. The change, from an unincorporated foundation to a charitable incorporated trust, limits liability for trustees and members while continuing to require annual reporting to the charities commission only. More information about the rationale and what this change means for the FSA is summarised in the attached proposal. An updated constitution based on a Charities Commission template is being drafted and reviewed and will be shared with parents and carers before the change is voted on during the 11 May FSA meeting. Save the date: Summer Fair on 30 June from 11am - 4pm
The fair promises some new attractions this year as well as the old favourites, and of course there will the auction, raffle, tombola, shops, games, food and more to keep the whole family entertained. To make this event a success, we need YOUR HELP! Areas to help include:
  • Auction/raffle team -- gathering donations (even for just a few hours one day), organising and selling the raffle tickets, running the drawing at the fair, or supervising the auction area during the fair. If you are interested, please contact Stefanie Fairholme at foxschoolfair@gmail.com
  • Run a stall -- Do you love to BBQ? Do magic tricks? Play in a band? Each class will run a stall, but several parents or groups of parents organise additional stalls or activities/entertainment as well. If you are interested, please contact Meghan Rogers at fsachair1@gmail.com.
  • Finance help -- we will need additional accounting help during the fair. If interested, please contact Anthony Marraccino at amarraccino@gmail.com
More details will follow about more specific needs for donations and volunteering as the fair gets closer.
