FIve Good Reasons to Start a Monthly Giving Program

If there is one thing an organization can do to make its fundraising life easier, it is to establish a program of monthly donations.

Join me on Friday, May 4, for Nonprofits TALK facilitated workshop/discussion on how to maximize your fundraising, multiply your annual income and retain your donors longer with an effective monthly giving program.

We'll look at why a monthly giving program is worth the initial effort to set up, with tips on how to get started.

Plus, we'll celebrate the first anniversary of Nonprofits TALK, which debuted last May!

NPT meets at The Lace Mill165 Cornell Street in Kingston; free parking on South Manor Avenue and Progress Street. Come to the West Gallery, 8:30-10 A.M. Prompt start and finish, with coffee to jump-start the conversation.

Contact Susan with questions. See — and hear — you at Nonprofits TALK!

Golden Nuggets on Making a Profitable Case for Support

How to Make Your Case, Appealing

  • Understand the Purpose: Your most effective case for support is a compelling, speak-from-the-heart appeal for talking to current/potential donors that emphasizes what your organization has accomplished, rather than what it needs.
  • Steer Clear of Jargon: Clarity is essential. Choose simple direct language to speak to your donors and avoid industry buzzwords that will confuse your audience.
  • Plan Your Appeal: Use this framework for a quick staff exercise to focus your thinking and outline your case for support.
  • Tap into the Power of Storytelling and Emotion: Consider what makes a fundraising appeal truly appealing and how emotion moves people to act. Wrap up with a succinct call to action that tells donors what they can do to contribute to your nonprofit's continued success.
