Although we are one week late on National Volunteer Week, we still wanted to take the chance to thank the many volunteers who are critical to all that Sagamore does and to announce some new volunteer opportunities. Volunteerism has been a part of the Great Camp Sagamore experience for over 40 years. In that time thousands of people have made the journey up to the center of the Adirondacks to help us open and close camp, work on historic preservation projects, sew and repair quilts, curtains and other textiles as well as keep Sagamore traditions alive through both their contributions of time and talent as well as their friendship.

This season we will have new volunteer opportunities to get involved in. Some of them include:
Preservation Volunteers: We are looking for people with skills in carpentry, landscaping and plumbing to help us with on-going restoration projects. The opportunities are offered both during our work weekends and at other times.
Trail Crew Volunteers: Sagamore is restoring its many miles of hiking trails in the Historic Great Camps Special Management Area that surrounds camp. Many of these trails are the remnants of the Vanderbilt era carriage trails and estate roads. This opportunity is physically demanding and requires the ability to work throughout the day at a distance from Sagamore.
Program and Event Volunteers: We have programs throughout the summer that could use helping hands to support the staff. The programs are offered throughout the season and the needs are varied.

Volunteer jobs at Sagamore are highly varied from both skilled and unskilled restoration work on our buildings to getting the grounds ready for the season.
Volunteer trail crews are working to maintain the large network of historic trails and carriage roads that surround Sagamore in the Historic Great Camps SMA.
As a Sagamore member you receive discounts on programs and store items ability to register for programs in advance and the knowledge that you are becoming part of this great effort to preserve a National Historic Landmark.
