May 2018                                                                         News and summer events........

New Library Building Update:  We are sharing the ballot language for the library's construction millage that will be on the August 7 ballot. The facts are: if it passes a new library will be built; if it fails the library will have to return the grant money donated to the project and a  new library will not be built. The millage language reads:

LIBRARY MILLAGE PROPOSAL

Shall the tax limitation on all taxable property within Richland Township, Saginaw County, Michigan, be increased and the Township be authorized to levy a new additional millage in an amount not to exceed 1.0 mill ($1.00 on each $1,000 of taxable value) for ten (10) years, 2018 to 2027 inclusive, to provide funds for all library purposes authorized by law, including operating and constructing a library building for the Rauchholz Memorial Library? If the millage is approved, the estimate of the revenue the Township will collect in 2018, the first year of the levy, is approximately $150,000. By law, the funds from the millage will be disbursed to the Rauchholz Memorial Library.

Come check out our Makerspace Station located at the blue table in the Juvenile Section of the library!  This is a self help activity that changes every 2 weeks.  These activities make kids think, learn, and create all while having fun at the library.  This month's activities are:

April 23rd - May 4th ........ Water Drops

May 7th -  May 18th ........Air Pressure

May 21st - June 1st ..... Rising Water

(Makerspace will be taking a summer vacation but visit us at one of our many events this summer)

Have some spare time and want to keep the kids occupied?  Come hang out at the library and try out some of the STEM kits.  These kits are available for use at the library anytime, just ask at the counter.  They make noise, light up, and are fun for the kids (adults too)!

Programming (reminder, you do not have to have a library card nor reside in our service area to participate in our activities, both computers and programming are open to everyone).
