 Individual Service Funds in Wigan
Think Local Act Personal (TLAP) has published a blog by Martin Walker which discusses the way Wigan is transforming adult social care through the use of Individual Service Funds (ISFs). He writes "One of the most striking things was the open-mindedness and optimism about what could be achieved. No preconceptions about the detail, just a strong understanding that by using ISFs, things could be really different in a positive way."

Manchester Cares is a new community network of young professionals and older neighbours hanging out and helping one another in a rapidly changing city. The aim is to reduce loneliness and isolation amongst older and younger Mancunians alike; to improve the connection between neighbours, skills, wellbeing, confidence and power; and to bring people together to reduce the gaps across social, generational, digital and attitudinal divides.

So far they’ve signed up 170 young professionals to share time with 150 older people through
24 social clubs including; Ballroom Dancing, Desert Island Disc nights, Film nights, Board games, Trips to live music, businesses and more.
