Creative Arts at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco
Greetings! UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco and Child Life Services invites you to "Our Stories", a showcase of expressive music, art, and video from Benioff Children's Hospital patients.
Come witness the creative process of hospitalized children and teens. Explore with us how creativity is its own form of healing that is every bit as important as the medicine children receive. Creative arts staff support children to re-identify, express themselves and be the masters of their own experience through the arts. By attending, you are not only a witness but a participant!
View our video invitation to see what it is all about! To attend this free event, RSVP here.

Peterson Family Foundation Music Therapy Program
How can a Bay Area anthem inspire teens going through bone marrow transplant? See UCSF teens in the news with this impressive display of musicianship and resilience.
Additionally, we want to congratulate Jeff Peterson, President of the Peterson Family Foundation and rock star supporter of music therapy, for his well-deserved Jefferson Award!
Art Therapy
BCH Bedside art therapy is all about risk-taking, innovation, and play. Art therapist Shalene Hatton brings together an unusual combination of materials: puff-paints and canvas, the UCSF Benioff patient artist, Olivia, invents a brand-new technique and teaches it to the art therapist.
Kaleidoscope Studios
Every Thursday evening we produce a radio show that is actually made for television. The show is called Radio Kaleidoscope and is presented on the hospital's Child Life TV Channel. Kids have the opportunity to call the show and request songs. Each request is recorded, edited, and played back during the show. Patients are able to hear themselves requesting the song, like a real radio station.
Radio Kaleidoscope is hosted by a staff person but the patients are the DJs. Patients create playlists and we record their voice introducing each song. Some patients share songs that help them celebrate or get through tough times. Radio Kaleidoscope is an amazing opportunity for kids and teens to take on a new identity as a DJ.
