Signs of summer are eagerly sought, if warily welcomed, this year. Some time of retreat offers a chance to step aside from the usual preoccupations and to look again at the everyday. We are glad to notice how often people recognise anew what God is doing in their lives, and hope that some of the offerings of this May might be of help to you.

One-day Retreats in May

Oasis Day

They take place in an atmosphere of quiet where you can decide which of the elements on offer are most helpful to you, choosing from reflections, guided prayer and an opportunity to meet with a spiritual director. Mass is celebrated as part of the day.

Newman Retreat

This one-day retreat offers an opportunity to engage prayerfully with John Henry Newman. The motto he chose when named a cardinal in 1879 was "Cor ad cor loquitur." (Heart speaks to heart.) This is a day to allow the heart to rest and to hear, to be encouraged by the wisdom of Newman as we seek God.
The day will consist of talks, time for reflection and the celebration of Mass. The retreat will be directed by Dermot Mansfield SJ, author of Heart Speaks to Heart: The Story of Blessed John Henry Newman (Veritas, 2010).
