Conducting youth seminars is one of Burning Plow Ministries' most effective ways of impacting this generation with the Word of God
Earlier this month, our Burning Plow Ministry team held a youth conference at the Voice of Salvation Church (VOSH) in Manyuanda on the shores of the great Lake Victoria where we had just last year conducted a 3-day Foundations of Our Faith Seminar. Here is Rev. Caleb's report:
Our team taught some of the lessons from BPM’s Foundations of Our Faith Seminar as well as lessons that touch on some of the issues and challenges that affect the youth today, the topics were also in line with the conference theme “Undefiling Yourself” which is derived from the book of Daniel chapter one, this has been a consistent theme for all of our youth conferences.
The first day, Caleb did introductions and then taught “Becoming a Disciple of Christ”. Before tea break, James taught “The Holy Bible” and then Silas taught “Prayer” before the lunch break.
After lunch we had entertainment with participants presenting special songs and dances. Next were discussion groups with the topic “What is truth? - When culture and the Bible clash”.
The next morning, after worship, Silas taught “How to Study the Bible”. Just before tea break, Caleb taught “Salvation”. After tea, Silas taught “Relationships - Friends and Forgiveness” and Caleb taught “Identity - How Can I Find Meaning in My Life?”. Then James led a discussion group on “Relationship - Biblical Dating and Marriage”.
For our workshops, we divided the class into three groups according to their age. This worked well, encouraging them to take an active part and share some of the challenges they are facing. We also adopted a method of writing questions on pieces of paper without giving their name. This encouraged them to write personal questions without embarrassment. During the group meeting 10 youth gave their lives to Christ. Glory to God!
We had 150 in attendance which would have been doubled had it not been for the heavy rains. Many of the youth spent the night inside the church on mattresses we had provided. In a nutshell I would say that this youth conference was very successful. We met our goal.
